What are Ideal® Implants?

Ideal® Implants are FDA-approved saline breast implants that combine many of the advantages of both saline and silicone implants. Ideal® Implants contain an internal structure made from safe and proven materials and time-tested manufacturing processes. The internal structure has two separate chambers to control the movement of the saline for a more natural feel. The structure reduces folding and wrinkling, which is thought to be the main cause of implant rupture and deflation.

What are the Benefits of Ideal® Implants?

Since Ideal® Implants are filled with saline, they come with all of the benefits offered by saline implants, combined the feel and natural appearance of silicone implants.

  • Easy removal in the event of a rupture
  • Improved shell strength when compared to traditional saline implants
  • Decreased risk of capsular contracture (five-year, primary augmentation)
  • Extremely low rupture rate (five-year, primary augmentation)
  • MRI or ultrasounds are not necessary to detect a rupture or leak

How is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Each patient has an individualized breast augmentation procedure based on their anatomy, skin elasticity, and cosmetic goals. There are three incision types that Dr. Beam offers:

  1. Periareolar incisions are made at the outer edge of the areola and implants are placed above or below the muscle; can be used with all implant types.
  2. Transaxillary incisions are made in the armpit so the scar is in a discrete location.
  3. Inframammary incisions are made in the crease beneath the breast and allow for a great deal of control when placing the implant.

Once the incision is made, Dr. Beam can insert the Ideal® Implants. He adjusts the implants to make sure they are even and look natural before finally closing the incisions. All implants offered by Dr. Beam are performed under general anesthesia.

What Can I Expect After a Breast Augmentation?

Dr. Beam will prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort. Patients should refrain from arm activity for at least a week; it may be two to three weeks before patients can return to normal activities. Exercise should also be avoided for four to six weeks. Finally, we ask that you wait four weeks before engaging in any heavy lifting.
