Restylane® is another attractive option for Hartford-area patients at Dr. Beam’s office. Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane® is a dermal filler, which means that it is used to physically fill in wrinkles. Restylane® is composed mainly of hyaluronic acid gel. This makes it doubly effective: it initially fills in wrinkles to smooth the skin, but as the body gradually absorbs the gel the hyaluronic acid moisturizes the skin, improving its texture and appearance. Restylane® is also a popular lip enhancementproduct.

What Can I Expect from Restylane Treatments?

Like other injectables, Restylane® is quick and easy to administer. Treatment typically takes no more than an hour, and may be much briefer depending on the size of the area being treated. Patients usually call the treatment process painless, and though they may experience minor swelling and redness, these symptoms are almost always brief and minor.

Is Restylane Right for Me?

Because hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the human body, there is very little danger of a negative reaction for patients who choose Restylane®. Further, Restylane® is cultivated in a laboratory, making it a very attractive alternative for those patients who are allergic to animal-derived collagen and similar products. Patients who have a history of bacterial allergy should choose another option instead of Restylane®, but almost any other Hartford-area skin care patient can safely use this powerful and convenient product.
